I have uploaded several photographs of The Rand Tower, located on the corner of Sixth Street and Marquette Avenue in Minneapolis, MN.
- Photoset of the Rand Tower (more photos)
According to the building's website and emporis, the Rand Tower was constructed (completion of construction) in 1929 by Rufus R. Rand. Mr. Rand was an avid airplane pilot, and many of the building's design elements feature aviation-type decorations. The building is 27 stories and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
I believe the building is easily overlooked in downtown Minneapolis - it is not nearly as prominent as say the Foshay Tower - but it's a real gem.
Be sure to check out the first floor lobby (enter on Marquette Avenue) and look down (at the flooring), straight ahead (at the statue) and up (at the staircase). The second-floor (skyway) level elevator banks are glitzy, but it's hard to tell if these elements are original to the building, or added later (as the skyway developed as the mean means of entering the building).

FYI - The elevator banks are original to the Rand. The Rand Tower's management company has several original photos depicting the elevator bays in 1928/1929 when the tower was constructed. The lobby has also remained mostly intact, but unfortunately someone painted over the beautiful silver leaf ceiling, and also removed the celestial markings behind the statue of "Wings".
